On September 2-3, 2004 the „Green Certificate” project staff participated in a seminar dedicated to eco-labelling systems in Central and Eastern Europe o­n the island of Vilm in Germany. The seminar was organized by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation and the NGO “Ecological Tourism in Europe”.

During the seminar the project staff presented the Latvian eco-label for rural tourism establishments “Green Certificate” and the project achievements. The summary of the study “Sustainable development of rural tourism in Latvia” was disseminated among the workshop participants. The seminar was attended by representatives of the EU eco-label “European Flower” and the German eco-label “Viabono”, as well as representatives from different institutions dealing with eco-labelling matters in Latvia, Estonia, Germany and Hungary.

During the seminar the participants exchanged their experience about such questions as marketing of eco-labels, development and improvement of the criteria, finding financial resources etc. The future co-operation possibilities between the eco-labelling schemes were also discussed during the seminar.
