On September 24, 2004 the “Green Certificate” project conclusion event took place in the Ministry of Environment in Riga, Latvia. The ceremony was combined with the presentation of the last project result – non-traditional guidebook “Countryside Bounty”, which has been published within the series “Green Holidays”.

The ceremony was opened by the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Latvia who awarded five new “Green certificates” to rural tourism accommodation owners. The leader of the project and the president of Latvian Country Tourism Association Asnate Ziemele informed the auditory about the project achievements, results and future perspectives. The member of the National tourist accommodation certification commission Çrika Lagzdiňa shared her view about the projects contribution to the sustainable rural tourism development in Latvia.

At the end of the ceremony Juris Smaďinskis presented the new non-traditional guidebook “Countryside Bounty” containing information about 163 interesting farmsteads in Latvia, where the tourists can observe the process of making traditional handicrafts and by the articles, see traditional and original animals, taste the countryside meals and by fresh and healthy countryside production. At the end of the brochure “green” advices for travellers and information about the “Green Certificate” is published.During the event all the project results and publications were displayed o­n a table and were available for interested persons. The participants were also asked to answer a question about their motivation of “green” management and travelling.The ceremony was attended by 138 participants: rural tourism entrepreneurs, representatives from ministries, local governments and tourist information centres and journalists.
